Leisure World Gym Case Study

To ensure a successful outcome, Kendall FM collaborated closely with several groups, including the Leisure World management team, flooring specialists, and external partners. As one of the most trusted construction companies in Colchester, we approached this project with meticulous attention to detail and strategic planning.

1. Coordination and Planning:

One of the primary challenges was to identify the optimal time to undertake the project, aligning it with Leisure World’s operational schedule and budget. We maintained ongoing communication with the Leisure World team, assessing the best time to commence work without disrupting their services.

2. Material Selection:

Even though we are considered one of the best construction companies in Colchester, we still seek advice from other industry experts on bespoke projects. We engaged with BAL Adhesives to determine the most suitable products for the gym flooring. BAL’s expert advice helped us select the ideal adhesives and latex underlay to ensure the flooring’s longevity and performance, guaranteeing that all products would come with robust warranties.

3. Specialist Consultation:

To meet the specific needs of this commercial project, we collaborated with Amtico Flooring. Their team visited the site to inspect and specify the floor coverings. Amtico Signature luxury vinyl tiles (LVT) were selected for their durability, aesthetic appeal, and suitability for high-traffic environments like Leisure World. The flooring solution was not only practical but also came with a commercial warranty, ensuring peace of mind for the client.

4. Equipment Management:

To minimise disruption, we enlisted the help of Pro Gym Solutions, a Colchester-based company specialising in gym equipment. They were responsible for carefully removing all gym equipment from the facility and setting it up in the sports hall, allowing Leisure World to continue offering gym services during the flooring installation.

5. Flooring Installation:

Once the gym was cleared, our team of builders in Colchester began by removing the old flooring. We then prepared the surface, laying approximately 350 square meters of latex underlay. Following this, we installed 350 square meters of Amtico Signature LVT, chosen for its durability and modern aesthetic. In addition, we laid 300 square meters of specialised gym floor matting, providing a safe and comfortable surface for users. The end result reaffirmed why we are known as one of the best construction companies in Colchester.

6. Reinstallation of Equipment:

After the new flooring was installed, Pro Gym Solutions returned to reposition the gym equipment and ensure it was set up safely and correctly. This step was critical to the project’s success, as it allowed Leisure World to resume full gym operations without delay.
